Half Day Samui Elephant Kingdom Sanctuary with 400m Skywalk

A 400m Skywalk is part of the animal shelter The Elephant Kingdom on Koh Samui. The Coconut Island elephant sanctuary provides specialised veterinary care in addition to improving the wellbeing and general health of captive pachyderms. You can choose to arrive on your own and simply purchase your ticket in advance to prevent overbooking the set feeding times, or we arrange an island roundtrip transfer. The History

Chokchai Rueangsri, who was raised in a family that had owned and dealt with elephants for many generations, developed the Samui Elephant Kingdom.

Their elephants had historically led Koh Samui’s tourism sector and were primarily utilised for trekking and occasional shows.

Chokchai had a strong bond with elephants since a young age and had always believed that there was a better way for these magnificent creatures. After extensive investigation and more understanding, he realised that elephants kept in captivity and exploited for tourism are terribly unhappy. In addition, the strain of their dissatisfaction weakens their immune systems, resulting in illness and depression.

Over the years,

Chokchai experienced a profound sense of injustice over time and witnessed the exploitation of the elephants escalating as visitors increased their demands. For the elephants, he had other dreams.

So, in 2019, when a journey of complete transformation was about to begin, his dream came true, and the Samui Elephant Kingdom was established.

Over the course of the next three years, effort and resources were invested in providing the elephants with the finest possible living environment so they could stop being chained and used as labour and begin to develop their inherent behaviours free from fear.

Our most recent project is a specially constructed elephant clinic that will be open to all local elephants. To ensure the greatest care, we will have a veterinarian with specialised training.
