Racha Island, also known as Raya Island, is made up of two islands: Raya Yai and Raya Noi, which are located 20 kilometers south of Phuket. It’s here that you’ll find white sand beaches and an emerald blue water. The area is home to a wide diversity of coral reefs and species. Many visitors come to spend the day sunbathing on the calm beach or snorkeling and diving to observe the vibrant corals.
Fortunately, we won’t have to travel far; a two-hour (slow) boat voyage will bring us to Racha Island, a small pearl in the sea. Divers know this tiny island as a great place to learn to dive, especially for beginners like me. I did my first dive there, and even though I had never dived before, it was a terrific experience.
