The fastest way from Phuket to Koh Yao Yai is the speedboat from Bang Rong Pier, in the north-east of Phuket, to Chong Lard Pier on Koh Yao Yai. The crossing takes about 30 minutes. Koh Yao Yai is the larger of the two Yao islands, quieter and greener than Phuket, with rubber plantations, small fishing villages and long beaches that look across Phang Nga Bay.

Getting from Phuket to Koh Yao Yai step by step
- To Bang Rong Pier: take a private van transfer from your Phuket hotel, or a taxi. The pier is in the Thalang area, roughly 30-60 minutes from the main beaches depending on traffic.
- Check in at the operator’s desk with your voucher and board the speedboat.
- Arrive at Chong Lard Pier on Koh Yao Yai. Add the island hotel transfer if your resort does not collect guests.
- Return: speedboats from Chong Lard Pier back to Bang Rong run from early morning to the afternoon.
Koh Yao Yai or Koh Yao Noi?
Koh Yao Noi is the smaller, slightly busier island just north of Koh Yao Yai, with its own boats from Bang Rong. This ticket goes to Koh Yao Yai only. If you are staying on Koh Yao Noi, message the team on WhatsApp and they will check the right boat and times.
