  • Optional sea-canoe trip through Lot Cave and the caves of Talu Island (pay on the day).
  • Flexible start from 8:00 onwards; early starts beat the crowds.

Guide to James Bond Island Ao Phang Nga National Park

Ao Phang Nga National Park protects more than forty limestone islands rising out of the shallow, emerald water of Phang Nga Bay, along with large areas of mangrove forest. James Bond Island is the name everyone uses for Khao Phing Kan, a pair of leaning limestone hills, and Ko Tapu, the slender rock pillar just offshore. Visitors walk the boardwalks on Khao Phing Kan; boats keep their distance from Ko Tapu, and swimming around it is not allowed. A national park entrance fee is payable and is not included in the boat price.

Itinerary: private longtail boat to James Bond Island

  • Cruise through the mangroves and past Khao Majoo, with limestone mountains around you, towards Tham Lod grotto.
  • Stop at Talu Island, where you can take an optional canoe ride through Lot Cave (extra cost, paid locally).
  • Continue to Khao Phing Kan and Ko Tapu (James Bond Island) with time for photos and a walk.
  • Visit Koh Panyee floating village, a good place for lunch at your own expense.
  • Return to Tha Dan Pier. The route is subject to tide and weather.
