Phang Nga Bay is the sea of limestone islands just north-east of Phuket, and a speedboat is one of the best ways to see it in a day. Among the Phang Nga Bay tours from Phuket, this premium speedboat day combines canoeing in the hidden lagoon at Hong Island, the bat cave at Koh Panak, lunch at the stilt village of Koh Panyee, a stop at James Bond Island, and a swim at Koh Naka or Koh Raya Yai.

Phang Nga Bay tours by speedboat: highlights
- Sea canoeing into the enclosed lagoon of Hong Island, with a guide paddling for you
- Koh Panak and its cave, home to bats and swiftlets
- Lunch at a restaurant in Koh Panyee, the Muslim fishing village built on stilts
- Khao Phing Kan and Koh Tapu, known as James Bond Island from the 1974 film The Man with the Golden Gun
- A swim stop at Koh Naka or Koh Raya Yai on the way back
- A speedboat gets you between the islands faster than a big boat, so you spend more time at each stop
Itinerary
- Hotel pickup: from about 08:30, depending on your area (see the pickup table below), by shared minivan to Royal Phuket Marina on the east coast. Your guide gives a short briefing.
- Hong Island: canoe through the narrow entrance into the lagoon, surrounded by limestone walls. Canoeing depends on the tide.
- Koh Panak: canoe or sightsee around the island and its cave.
- Koh Panyee: lunch at a floating restaurant, then time to walk through the village.
- James Bond Island: walk on the beach at Khao Phing Kan, with its leaning rock, and photograph Koh Tapu, the needle-shaped rock in the bay.
- Swim stop: Koh Naka or Koh Raya Yai, depending on the sea and the tide.
- Return: you leave for Royal Phuket Marina at around 16:00, then transfer back to your hotel.
The order of stops may change with the tide and the weather.
Good to know
- National park fee: Phang Nga Bay is a national park, and a separate entrance fee is charged to foreign visitors. We’ll confirm whether it’s included in your booking.
- Boats can’t land on Koh Tapu itself. You see it from the beach at Khao Phing Kan.
- Koh Panyee is a Muslim community, so cover your shoulders and knees when you walk through the village.
- The calmest seas are from November to April. Tours run in the rainy season too, but the sea can be choppier.
What to bring
- Swimwear, a towel and a light cover-up for the village
- Sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses
- Cash for the national park fee if it isn’t included, and for drinks and souvenirs
- A waterproof bag for your phone. Canoes can get splashed.
