A Koh Larn speedboat trip is the classic island day out from Pattaya: a quick ride across the bay, snorkelling at Koh Sak, lunch on Koh Larn (Coral Island) and as many water sports as you have energy for. The full-day Koh Sak and Koh Larn package on this page is not running at the moment, but here is a practical guide to the islands, how to get there and how the lunch and snorkelling packages usually work.

Koh Larn and Koh Sak at a glance

• Koh Larn (Coral Island): the main island off Pattaya, with several beaches, seafood restaurants and plenty of water sports.
• Koh Sak: a small island just north of Koh Larn, used by tour boats as a snorkelling and activity stop.
• Getting there: boats leave from Bali Hai Pier at the southern end of Pattaya Beach Road, beyond Walking Street.

Koh Larn beaches

• Tawaen: the busiest and most developed beach, with restaurants and water sports.
• Tien: quieter, with clear water and a scenic setting.
• Nual (Monkey Beach): in the south, popular for swimming and snorkelling.
• Samae: a wide sandy beach, good if you want space and a sunset view.

What the Koh Larn speedboat trip included

The old programme (schedule and rates kept below) picked you up from your Pattaya hotel around 08:30, started with parasailing over Pattaya Bay, stopped at Koh Sak for snorkelling and water sports, then moved to Koh Larn for lunch and free time before heading back around 15:30. You could book the boat trip on its own or with a combination of sea walker, jet ski, parasailing and banana boat, with Thai or seafood lunch.

Speedboat or public ferry?

• Public ferry: the cheapest option, taking around 45 minutes to Na Ban Pier or Tawaen Beach. Buy tickets at the official booths at the pier.
• Shared speedboat: around 15 to 20 minutes, and can drop you closer to some beaches.
• Private speedboat: the most flexible choice for families or groups; ask us for a quote.

What to bring

• Swimwear, towel, hat and reef-safe sunscreen
• Cash: many small businesses on Koh Larn take cash only, and ATMs can run short on busy days
• A waterproof phone pouch
• Sandals that can get wet

Tips

• Do not leave your return boat to the last minute; the last public ferries run in the early evening.
• Sun loungers on the beaches usually carry a small fee unless you order food at the restaurant behind them.
• During the rainy season (roughly May to October) the sea can be rough and speedboat services may be suspended.
• Only book water sports through a trusted operator and check that life jackets are provided.

Yes, there are guesthouses and small resorts on the island. It is a nice way to enjoy the beaches after the day boats leave.
