The 3 Khai islands are a group of small islands just off Phuket’s east coast: Koh Khai Nok, Koh Khai Nai and Koh Khai Nui. This half-day morning speedboat trip visits all three. You get white-sand beaches, clear shallow water and easy snorkelling, and you’re back at your hotel by mid-afternoon. It suits families, first-time snorkellers, and anyone who doesn’t want to spend a full day on a boat.

What to expect on the Khai island tour

Your minivan picks you up between about 08:20 and 09:30, depending on where you’re staying (see the pickup table below). At the pier you check in, then board the speedboat. The order of the islands changes with the tide. Typically you’ll anchor off Khai Nui to snorkel, then spend beach time at Khai Nai and Khai Nok. After the last stop, the boat returns to Phuket, where you’re transferred back to your hotel.

The Khai islands are among the most popular short trips from Phuket, so expect other boats at the beaches, especially from December to April. If you’d prefer a quieter day, ask us about the half-day afternoon Khai trip or the full-day Khai island tour.

Good to know

• Don’t feed the fish. Feeding fish is banned at the Khai islands to protect the reef.
• At Khai Nui the current can be strong. Keep your life jacket on while snorkelling.
• Beach chairs, drinks and toilets on the islands are paid separately, so bring some cash.
• In rough weather, the boat may skip Khai Nui or change the order of the stops for safety.

Where are the Khai islands?
They’re in Phang Nga Bay, just east of Phuket, about 15 minutes by speedboat from the east coast.

Does the tour run in the rainy season?
It runs every day, but from May to October the sea can be choppy. The captain may change the route, and in bad weather the trip can be cancelled. If that happens, we’ll contact you about rebooking.

How long is the trip?
It’s a half-day trip. Most guests are back at their hotel by early to mid-afternoon, depending on the pickup area.
