Amazing Sunrise in Phang Nga Bay, Visit James Bond Island by Big Boat. A must-do in Phuket is the James Bond Island Sunrise Tour! Enjoy the breathtaking panorama at daybreak, explore a stunning cave, and go canoeing in one of Thailand’s most breathtaking views. If you are not too fussed about getting up early in the morning, this is a fantastic time to go and AVOID the Crowds, be there when it is quiet.
James Bond Island
Phang Nga Bay’s James Bond Island is a well-known landmark. It first became well-known to international tourists as the setting for the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun. The sheer limestone cliffs that vertically jut out of the emerald-green water are a distinguishing feature of this famous bay. The entire area surrounding this island is breathtaking, but it can become congested with tourist boats during peak season.
Phang Nga Bay
Making up roughly 100 islands, many of which have unusual shapes, Phang Nga Bay covers an area of 400 square kilometres. Since its appearance in the 1974 Bond film, James Bond Island, with its signature rocky pinnacle, the location has been a popular tourist destination.
Because it is a protected marine area of the Ao Phang Nga Marine National Park, boats are not permitted to approach the island. Its precarious position is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. James Bond Island can be seen from a boat or a small beach on Koh Ping Ghan.
Best time to go
Sunrise is one of the most picturesque times to travel to Phang Nga Bay and Visit James Bond Island, and traveling by Big Boat is a leisurely experience. Also, going this ealy, means you will be there BEFORE all the crowds that arrive later on in the day.
Koh Ping Ghan is a massive rock with several small caves inside. It’s pretty amazing and entertaining to look through them all. On its crowded eastern beach, stalls and stands sell souvenirs made mostly of shells and wood.
Getting there
Picking you up from your accommodation and taking you to Ao Por port is the first step in the Sunrise Phang Nga Bay to James Bond Island journey. After that, register at the pier and get the schedule of the excursion.
James Bond Island, where “The Man with the Golden Gun” was filmed. The following stop is Panak Island, where you can go canoeing and tour the Bat Cave, Mangrove Cave, and Diamond Cave’s lagoon and caves.
This island is well-known for its spectacular stalactites, caves, and lagoons. It also has monkeys that can swim and catch crabs. The caves were formed by the flow of the tide. Following that, we’ll unwind and go swimming at Naka Island or Lawa Island.

Justin –
A very early start to our day, got down to the pier and the crew were getting the boat and everything else ready for departure. We started cruising whilst dark (take a jacket with you as it got a bit chilly with wind). Sunrise was amazing over the islands in Phang Nga Bay. We stopped at a couple of places, Us an one more small boat were literally the only ones at James Bond Island in the morning, so that was nice, no crowds. Did some cave kayaking and through the mangroves on Hong Island, beautiful experience, although it started to get a bit busier with people and kaya traffic, still an amazing experience. Really nice buffet lunch on the boat and Thai snacks and drinks. Stopped of at a beautiful white sandy island beach for a while to chill and wander around and swim. Highly recommend this tour.
