Pig Island (Koh Madsum) is a small island just off the south of Koh Samui, famous for the friendly pigs that wander its beach. This half-day morning trip by power catamaran combines Pig Island with snorkelling at nearby Koh Tan, a Thai lunch and hotel transfers on Koh Samui. Please note: this tour departs from Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand, not from Phuket.

Can I visit Pig Island from Phuket?
Not as a day trip. Pig Island sits off Koh Samui, roughly an hour’s flight or a long land-and-ferry journey from Phuket. If you are staying in Phuket and want a similar day of snorkelling and beaches, ask us about the Phi Phi, Khai Island or Coral Island tours instead.
What to bring
- Swimwear, towel, hat and sunglasses.
- Reef-safe sunscreen.
- A little cash: some islands charge a small landing fee that is paid on the spot.
- A waterproof bag for your phone.
Tips for visiting the pigs
- Let the pigs come to you and do not chase or ride them.
- Only feed them what the island staff allow; they are well fed already.
- Keep valuables in your bag, as curious pigs will nose through anything left on the sand.
- The sea on the Samui side is usually calmest from around February to September; the late-year monsoon can cause rough days and changes to the route.
