A private sailing catamaran is the most relaxed way to see Phuket’s islands: your own boat and crew, no crowds to keep pace with, and the freedom to swim, snorkel and sail at your own speed. Vela is a luxury sailing catamaran available for a private Phuket yacht charter, with half-day, sunset and full-day routes to Coral Island’s Banana Beach, Racha Yai, Maiton, Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay.

Routes and what to expect

All programmes and their durations are listed in the rate table below. In short:

• Banana Beach (half day, morning or sunset): a short sail to Coral Island for swimming and snorkelling off one of Phuket’s most popular beaches. The afternoon option returns at sunset.
• 8-hour south-coast days: Banana Beach combined with Promthep Cape, Racha Yai or Maiton Island, for clearer water and quieter bays.
• Phi Phi Islands: a full day crossing to Phi Phi, with optional Maiton or Khai Island stops.
• Phang Nga Bay: a full day among the limestone islands north-east of Phuket.

Your captain will adjust the route to the wind, tide and sea conditions on the day. Some destinations, such as Maya Bay inside Phi Phi, have seasonal closures (Maya Bay closes every year from 1 August to 30 September).

Pickup

Free pickup from the Phuket areas listed in the transfer table, including Patong, Kata, Karon, Rawai, Nai Harn, Phuket Town, Kamala, Surin, Bang Tao, Laguna and Mai Khao. The departure pier and pickup times are confirmed after booking.

What to bring

• Swimwear, towel and a change of clothes
• Reef-safe sunscreen, hat and sunglasses
• A light layer for the sail home, especially on sunset trips
• Cash for national park fees if your route enters a national park; the team will confirm when you book
• Any special food, drink or celebration requests, sent to us in advance

Tips from our team

• Book well ahead for Christmas, New Year and Songkran, when a peak-season surcharge also applies (see the remark under the rates).
• For calm seas and the clearest water, November to April is best. From May to October the captain may choose sheltered routes.
• Planning a birthday, proposal or company outing? Tell us and we will pass your plans to the crew.

What is included on board?
The team will confirm inclusions such as food, drinks and snorkelling gear for your chosen route when you book.

Can we choose our own route?
Choose one of the programmes in the rate table. The captain may change the order or stops for safety and weather.

Is sailing suitable for children and older guests?
Yes. A catamaran is stable and spacious. Life jackets are on board.

What happens in bad weather?
If conditions are unsafe, the captain may change the route or the trip may be rescheduled. We will contact you on WhatsApp.
