Updated October 2026 by the Phuket Dream Company team (TAT licensed).
A Similan liveaboard is the best way to dive the Similan Islands properly. Instead of a long day trip, you sleep on board and wake up at the dive sites. This 2 days 1 night trip on MV Koon 1 includes 4 dives, one of them a night dive, with hotel pickup from Phuket. Non-divers can join the same boat at a lower price to snorkel and enjoy the islands.
Similan liveaboard highlights
- 2 days and 1 night on board MV Koon 1
- 4 dives, including a night dive
- Non-diver option for partners and friends
- Free hotel pickup from all main areas of Phuket
- Season: 15 October 2026 to 15 May 2027
About diving the Similan Islands
Mu Ko Similan National Park is a chain of granite islands in the Andaman Sea, around 100 km north-west of Phuket and about 65 km off the Phang Nga coast. It is one of Thailand’s top dive areas. The east side has calm water, good visibility and gentle slopes of hard and soft coral. The west side has huge boulders, swim-throughs and stronger currents with bigger fish life. A liveaboard lets you dive both at the best times of day, including after dark.
2026-27 season and park rules
- The park opens on 15 October 2026 and closes on 15 May 2027. It is closed in the south-west monsoon.
- Visitor numbers are capped each day, including a separate quota for divers, so book early for peak months.
- Sleeping on the islands is not allowed; overnight stays are on licensed liveaboards only.
- Sunscreens containing oxybenzone, octinoxate, 4-MBC or butylparaben are banned in Thai marine parks.
- A national park fee applies to all visitors. The team will confirm whether it is paid on board or included.
What to expect
- Day 1: early pickup from your Phuket hotel (from around 05:30-07:00 depending on area) and transfer north to the departure pier in the Khao Lak area. Board, settle in, and start diving. The night dive is on the first evening.
- Night on board: dinner, briefings and a cabin on the boat.
- Day 2: morning dives at new sites, then return to the pier and transfer back to Phuket in the evening.
Dive sites are chosen by the dive team for conditions and your experience level.
