A Krabi long tail boat is the traditional way to explore Krabi’s islands: a narrow wooden boat with a long-shafted engine that can run right up onto the sand. This Krabi 4 islands tour by longtail boat departs from Krabi and visits Phra Nang Bay, Koh Tup, Chicken Island and Koh Poda, with snorkelling, swimming and lunch on the beach.
Updated October 2026 by the Phuket Dream Company team (TAT licensed).
Highlights
- Phra Nang Beach and its cave shrine, on the Railay peninsula
- Thale Waek, the sandbar linking Koh Tup and neighbouring islands at low tide
- Snorkelling off Chicken Island, named for its rock shaped like a chicken’s head
- Lunch and free time on Koh Poda
- Free hotel pickup from Krabi Town, Ao Nang and Klong Muang
Itinerary: what to expect
After pickup from your Krabi hotel you board the longtail boat. The first stop is Phra Nang Bay, a beach reached only by boat, with limestone cliffs and the Phra Nang cave. Next is Thale Waek (“separated sea”) around Koh Tup, where a white sandbar appears at low tide and you can walk between the islands.
At Chicken Island you stop for a swim and snorkelling over the reef. The last stop is Koh Poda, a small uninhabited island with soft sand, where lunch is served and you have time to relax and explore.
The order of stops can change with tide and weather. The sandbar walk depends on the tide on the day.
Krabi long tail boat or speedboat?
A longtail is slower and more traditional, and it gets close to the beaches. It is also open to the sun and spray, so expect to get a little wet. A speedboat covers the same islands faster. If you are staying in Phuket rather than Krabi, ask us about our 4 islands tour from Phuket.
