Maya Bay became world-famous after the film The Beach and is now carefully managed by the national park. It closes every year for about two months, usually August and September; in 2026 it reopened on 1 October.

What to expect at Maya Bay
Boats no longer enter Maya Bay. Instead, the speedboat moors at a pontoon in Loh Samah Bay on the other side of Phi Phi Leh, and you walk a few minutes along a wooden boardwalk to the beach. Swimming in Maya Bay is not allowed, but you can paddle at the water’s edge, take photos and enjoy the view of the cliffs. Visits are time-limited by the park, so the early start really helps.

- Maya Bay: walk to the beach via Loh Samah Bay

- Afternoon: return to Phuket and transfer to your hotel

- The calmest months are November to April; from May to October seas can be rougher

Can I swim at Maya Bay?
No. Swimming is not allowed in Maya Bay to protect the coral. You can walk on the beach and paddle at the edge.
