Looking for a Phi Phi island half day tour from Phuket without the early start? The Lazy Day & Sunset Tour picks you up mid-morning instead of at dawn, takes you by speedboat to the Phi Phi Islands, including Maya Bay, and finishes at Khai Nai Island before heading home. It suits couples and families who want the highlights of Phi Phi at a more relaxed pace.
Updated October 2026 by the Phuket Dream Company team (TAT licensed).
Highlights
- Later hotel pickup (from about 09:00), so there’s no 7am start
- Speedboat trip from Phuket to the Phi Phi Islands, about an hour each way depending on the sea
- Maya Bay, the beach from the film The Beach, now visited on foot along a boardwalk
- Cruising past the limestone cliffs of Phi Phi Leh, with swimming and snorkelling stops where conditions allow
- A final stop at Khai Nai Island for white sand and clear, shallow water
Phi Phi island half day tour from Phuket: what to expect
- Hotel pickup: by minivan at the times shown in the transfer table below, then to the pier for check-in and a safety briefing.
- Phi Phi Leh and Maya Bay: boats no longer enter Maya Bay. They moor at a pontoon in Loh Samah Bay on the other side of the island, and you walk a short boardwalk to the beach. Swimming at Maya Bay is not allowed, but wading at the water’s edge is.
- Bays and viewpoints around Phi Phi: the speedboat cruises past the cliffs and lagoons, with a snorkelling or swimming stop when the sea and park rules allow.
- Khai Nai Island: a small, sandy island between Phi Phi and Phuket, good for a last swim and relaxing on the beach.
- Return to Phuket: back to the pier and transfer to your hotel.
The exact order of stops depends on tide, weather and national park rules on the day.
Maya Bay opening season
Maya Bay closes every year for about two months during the south-west monsoon, normally August and September, to let the beach and coral recover. It reopened on 1 October 2026 for the 2026–27 season. When it is closed, the boat visits other bays around Phi Phi instead.
Pickup and meeting point
Free pickup is included from the main west-coast beaches, Phuket Town and Chalong. Some areas carry an extra charge or a private van rate; all pickup areas and times are listed in the tables below. The team will send your exact pickup time on WhatsApp the day before.
What to bring

Tips from our team
- Sit towards the back of the speedboat if you prefer a smoother ride.
- Sea conditions are calmest from November to April; outside that season, trips may be rerouted or cancelled for safety.
- Do not feed the fish or touch coral, and give the blacktip reef sharks at Maya Bay plenty of space.
- Speedboats are not recommended for pregnant guests or anyone with back problems.
FAQ
How long is the boat ride from Phuket to Phi Phi?
By speedboat it is usually around an hour each way, depending on the pier and the sea.
Can I swim at Maya Bay?
No. Swimming at Maya Bay has been banned since it reopened in 2022. You can walk on the beach and wade at the edge, and there are swimming stops elsewhere on the trip.
Is Maya Bay open in October and November?
Yes. It is normally closed only in August and September, and reopened on 1 October 2026.
Is this a good Phi Phi tour for children?
Yes for most children who are comfortable on boats. Children’s prices are shown below. Speedboats can be bumpy, so it is not ideal for infants.

The captain may change the order of stops or replace a stop for safety. If the trip is cancelled by the operator, the team will help you rebook or arrange a refund under the booking terms.
Are national park fees included?
Park fees for Phi Phi are set by the national park and paid in cash. The team will confirm on WhatsApp whether they are included for your booking.
