The guide below covers what to expect next time and how to plan your visit. \nUpdated October 2026 by the Phuket Dream Company team (TAT licensed). \nChiang Mai Flower Festival 2026 and 2027 dates\n\n2026: 13–15 February 2026\, with the floral parade on Saturday 14 February\n2027: not yet announced. The festival is held on a Friday to Sunday in early to mid-February\, and the province usually confirms the exact dates in January or early February.\n\nWe’ll update this page once the 2027 dates are official. If you’re planning a trip around the festival\, message us on WhatsApp and we’ll let you know as soon as they’re confirmed. \nWhat the festival is\nChiang Mai is often called the “Rose of the North”\, and the festival has been held for nearly five decades. It marks the time of year when the northern hills are cool and dry and temperate flowers bloom. You’ll see orchids\, chrysanthemums\, roses\, tulips and many local varieties. The festival is organised by the city and province\, and it combines a flower show and a parade with a local fair. \nThe floral parade\nThe parade is the highlight. It takes place on the Saturday morning and starts early\, around 07:30–08:00. Floats decorated with tens of thousands of flowers set off from Nawarat Bridge on the Ping River\, pass Tha Pae Gate and finish at Nong Buak Haad Park in the south-west corner of the old city. Marching bands\, dancers in traditional Lanna dress and the festival queen contestants walk alongside the floats\, which often pause so people can take photos. \nNong Buak Haad Park and the flower displays\nNong Buak Haad Park is the festival’s base for all three days. Expect landscaped flower beds\, garden design competitions\, orchid and bonsai displays\, and stalls selling plants\, seeds and local products. In the evenings the park is lit up\, and there are stage shows\, music and food stalls. The Miss Chiang Mai Flower Festival pageant is a traditional part of the weekend. \nHow to get there\n\nFlying: Chiang Mai International Airport is only a short drive from the old city. Direct flights connect it with Bangkok\, Phuket and other Thai and regional cities.\nGetting around the festival: The parade route and the old city are walkable. Ride-hailing apps\, red songthaew shared trucks and tuk-tuks all work\, but roads along the parade route close on the Saturday morning.\nFrom Phuket: There are direct flights to Chiang Mai. We can arrange airport transfers\, hotels and day tours as part of a multi-stop Thailand trip.\n\nTips for visiting\n\nBook your accommodation early. The festival falls in peak season\, and old-city hotels fill up.\nFor the parade\, find a spot along Tha Pae Road or near Tha Pae Gate before 07:30. The area near the finish at Nong Buak Haad Park gets crowded first.\nBring a hat\, sunscreen and water. Mornings are cool\, but it warms up quickly by late morning.\nCarry small notes for food and plant stalls.\nVisit the park displays in the late afternoon or evening\, when it’s cooler and the lights come on.\nCombine the festival with a temple tour of the old city\, a trip to Doi Suthep\, or a day out to an ethical elephant sanctuary.\n\nFAQ\nWhen is the Chiang Mai Flower Festival 2027?The dates haven’t been announced yet.
